Enhance Your Meals with Scallion Basil Sauce: The Time-Saving Recipe

Introduction:

If you're seeking to optimize your health while enjoying flavorful meals, look no further than our Scallion Basil Sauce recipe. This versatile and time-saving sauce is not only delicious but also supports lactation. After researching ingredients to aid milk production, I created this recipe with a combination of beneficial herbs, now utilizing olive oil for added health benefits. Learn how this recipe can enhance your culinary experience and well-being.

Supporting Lactation Naturally:

A family member had trouble lactating so I looked up all the ingredients to help her milk production. There were several herbs on the list, so I gathered them all up and threw them in butter (I've since edited the recipe to use olive oil instead of butter).

By harnessing the power of herbs, I crafted a recipe that supports lactation. The combination of ingredients, including scallions and basil, contributes to a holistic approach to wellness. She swears it helped her with lactation; she didn't make any other changes besides using the butter with food.

It's important to note that some foods, like potato, pulses, raw mango, raw banana, thyme, parsley, peppermint, and cabbage leaves, should be avoided to encourage lactation.

The Fenugreek Factor:

Fenugreek is renowned for its lactation-boosting properties. But, since you need consume large amounts for it to be effective, and its bitter taste, I've chosen to exclude it from this recipe. Instead, I recommend considering fenugreek supplements as an alternative way to benefit from its qualities.

Garlic, Upgraded:

I like to use elephant garlic because each clove is much larger than regular garlic. The size makes it more convenient to peel and chop. Another great option is to get those packages of garlic already peeled. Trader Joe’s has a resealable bag with 3 small packets of garlic, about a dozen cloves in each. Here’s an article comparing garlic that is fresh, peeled, frozen, pre-minced and powdered.

Repurpose and Reuse: The Eco-Friendly Approach to Cooking

Efficiency in cooking goes hand in hand with sustainability. This Scallion Basil Sauce recipe not only simplifies your cooking experience but also encourages responsible practices. In our pursuit of a greener kitchen, we've found a creative way to repurpose empty jars from Organic Valley ghee.

I use empty jars from Organic Valley ghee because they're a good size and the wide mouth makes it easier to use.

Don't forget to remove the round paper lining found under the lid to ensure a clean and effective seal, otherwise, water will get lodged in there and it won't be clean.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
This is my favorite olive oil, it’s found at Sprouts Farmer’s Market and Whole Foods.

Organic Ghee
Once the jar of ghee is empty, remove the plastic lining under the lid and wash to reuse. The plastic lid and glass jar are ideal for storing sauces or on-the-go smoothies.
